Kate Nielson’s practice focuses on commercial and civil litigation, government investigations, and appellate work.

Before entering private practice, Kate clerked for the Honorable John C. Coughenour on the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and for the Honorable Harris L. Hartz on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She also spent a year as a legal fellow at the Australian Law Reform Commission in Sydney, Australia.

Kate graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she practiced as a student attorney at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, argued in the finals of the Ames Moot Court competition, and served as an articles editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Gender.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy cum laude from Harvard College. Before law school, she taught English in a rural Chinese high school.
